That's What They Tell Me

A glass box, or first hand experience
More often than not, this moulds us to be who we are today
Yet, tomorrow is in your hands.
To change or to stay
Yet the world tells you to count your blessings.

To be grateful over petty grumblings
To count your blessings over blaming others.

Life is such a cliche cycle
Our parents wants the best for us
By fitting us into professional moulds
Success stories they’ve had or even watched their peers created

The world and their quotes?

They tell us to embrace and to do what we love
They say, “if you enjoy what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.
Then again, they didn’t say if that would bring food to the table

They say, when you hit rock bottom
There’s no other way next but up.

To be a realist or a dreamer?
Tough choices.

One over the other,
You’ll never win Life.

The only way you surpass this subject matter Life, is
To take charge of your mind
The perception of what is and what can be
Positivity feeds, negativity corrodes
It is all in the state of mind
Or at least, that’s what they say.

The Petrol Kiosk Guy

This is about him, a stranger.
A thought hit me and I wanted to pen it down.
Took a mental pause and spoke to my Fiance about it instead.
Talk about delayed gratification...

It was scorching hot as the 12pm sun approached its peak.
Well fed to the brim after a good same ol' breakfast, we seized the hour, dropping by the petrol station on the way home.

His usual drill...
Rush to serve customers as soon as they pull over in the designated bays,
"Bos, nak brapa?" / "Lima puluh!"...
On some days however, his role is gently shrugged off mostly by the younger generation...
"Takpe" indicating there's no need for his assistance.

Le Fiance did the latter and it struck me.
The reason why he now has a job was because the local market viewed his assistance necessary.
Maybe he keeps tab of each day, how many people who turns down his assistance.
Maybe it's time for him to look for another job...
Maybe this is not a sustainable wage earning role.

In the present moment,
He was quick to pick up a windscreen cleaner to sponge and dry the windscreen of le Fiance's car.

This is about a petrol kiosk attendant in the humble town of Ipoh.

Nando's Lover is Me!

A month ago, Dad told me I've got mail. You see, I don't usually get mails at the postbox other than occasional air mails friends would kindly send me when they were based overseas for tertiary education. We all know I'm well passed that phase right now. Hah!

I saw a nicely sealed "envelope" on the common table bearing my name and opened it with much excitement. The flip side had Nando's logo printed on it. First thought that came to my mind, "hmm, another marketing gimmick?"

As you can see, it's a reward for my love for Nando's!

My love for Nando's is one that people around me can testify. LOL and the best Nando's outlet by far, in terms of customer experience is the one at Taipan, USJ. I briefly wrote about it in January 2013 when the outlet was fairly new.

Anyways! Long story short, I was thrilled to receive such an awesome goodie!

Best of all, it's not a goodie on purchase. IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE. Can't get anymore Asian than this. :P

Nine choices to choose from...

I had a tough time picking from the lot because I'd always have the usuals of 1/4 chicken w 2 sides. Suddenly I had to deviate from the norm and the burgers/pita/wrap all looked so enticing!

Beefy Gatecrasher

I was torn between the Nandoca's Choice vs. Beefy Gatecrasher.

What was appealing about Nandoca's Choice was the butterflied chicken which comes at a premium if I were to pick that with my usual 1/4 chicken w sides.

Beefy Gatecrasher however enticed me with it being BEEF. Beef isn't exactly Nando's forte. So I ended up giving this a try! Ok la, part of the reason why I chose this was because it was the most worth-it choice of the lot LOL Asian...

The staff at Nando's Sunway Pyramid was pretty helpful. Fully aware that the voucher allows for dine-in only, I requested for a kind favor to opt for a takeout instead as I'd be dining alone.

They were kind enough to do so and pre-empt me on the waiting time if I were to opt for the Beefy option. With that, I went strolling around the nearby shops and came back after 20 minutes.

HUNGER!

My Nando's takeout. Mmmmmm~ It smell so good throughout the car ride home. There's even 2 packets of complimentary Peri-peri sauce.

Frame-grilled

First sight of my beefy-licious thang! In my mind, I was thinking... "Oh so this is what a toasted Portugese roll looks like" :D

Temptation

The beef steak was well paired with fresh rockets, pickled onions and red pepper dip. The sauce was amazing! The beef fillet was a lil tough, but texture was as expected because it's a fillet (duh!). As compared to the usual burgers where mince are commonly used, this was a mouthful twist to the norm.

PERi-PERi sauce

The perfect topping to a Nando's meal. With this, nothing can go wrong. My favourite is still the Garlic PERi-PERi sauce but I'll have it another day when I pair it with my usuals!

All in all, it was a PERinaise meal!

Looking forward to my next visit :D Once again, thank YOU, Nando's Malaysia! :D

Close to 6 Months

Can't believe it's been close to 6 months since I last wrote. I started this (new) space on blogosphere in hopes that I could share more about my love for food. And then, I let it all slip away, again.

My drive to work everyday has been filled with prayers. Short. Simple. Sincere ones. I cannot thank Him enough for the open doors, and blessings that He has flourished my life with.

I miss writing.

As I am drafting this out on a Saturday morning, April is coming to an end in the coming week. Can't seem to have any description for such a feeling other than, "time flies".

Life is moving at too fast a pace, that we tend to overlook God's presence in our lives. It may not be applicable to all, but it definitely happened for me. I do not feel happy about it. I do not enjoy being away from Him. Yet, He never draws away. But rather, He'd draw me closer to Him, working in ways that I'd never imagine.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." - James 1:17

As May approaches, I turn a year older. :)

Age is merely a number to call. Age does not define one's maturity.

This post is a post of random thoughts. You never know who is watching over this space. Waiting for you to mess up. Waiting for you to slip a negative thought that they can hold against you. Cyberspace is a fun place to hang out at, yet, it brings danger beyond great measures that are irreversible.

In this day and era, accessibility is everything. With Google Glasses, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter and whatevernots, knowledge and harm is just a button's click away. Do you let loose? Do you share your personal life on social media platforms as though it is merely a personal space? Do you share nothing more than what others deserve to know? Or do you share just nothing at all?

I've been on Dayre lately. Only when I am spending time w the BF; because I do not own a smart phone, YET. ;)

One of the Dayre user's post caught my attention. In it, she shared this: "How real is REAL?". In other words, how do you even KNOW that someone real, IS INDEED.... REAL.

It struck me. One can only be as REAL as how REAL he/she wants the world to perceive them. Yes, there may be those who still think that the "real" is not real enough. But, still, some would take the "real"ness as it is.

I, for one, take people at face value. Show me your sincerity, in return, I will give you in kind. :) But if you choose to hide behind that mask, only because you are building a wall in your heart and mind so high up that you are beyond reachable for me, then the mask I shall return you with.

I believe in the good. I believe also that when you meet bad people or get entangled in bad things/ situations; walk away. FAR AWAY. God put me in the latter situations for a reason.

... for me to be able to differentiate between bad people/ bad situations from the good ones. Which helps me appreciate the good people/ good situations all the more.

I've been meaning to write in a long long while. Writing is my therapy as how retail shopping is to the female species. I love writing. I miss "verbal" diarrhea on this cyberspace called mine (where eyes could be watching).

This is me. This isn't about anyone else. Take the above as a pinch of salt and apply it to your daily life if it makes perfect sense to you. Otherwise, thank you for reading.

Have a great weekend! xx

I Don't Thank Enough

Oh hai! It's me blogging on my smart camera.

So, its barely midweek and I've actually gotten cranky. Somewhat like a musthave cranky mode: ON. Don't mess w me!

You know how people have sudden realisations in their lives and then they come to a turning point? That's exactly what I'm feeling right now; except for the turning point part. Heh

The thing is... I don't feel that I am thankful enough... for many things in my life. Oh Lord, why am I like this... so, please make way for me on cyberspace to thank God for these (for today)...

I should be thankful for dinner already served whenever I get home (unless informed otherwise).
I should be thankful for food (my goodness!).
I should be thankful for having a job.
I should be thankful that life ain't that bad for a cranky person like me. Hehe

I should be thankful, because, well you see... for this one important reason. That is, I have this (occasional) patient Daddy that puts up with my stuck-up princessey moments that it no one else in my little world bothers about. And that's when I 放肆到。。。hehehehehe~

Daddy dearest, 我爱你!♡

imma be "hugging" these blessings to sleep tonight. Oh yea, blogging on Blogger app sucks. Urhh.. crankaaayyyy... another day to work towards "success"!!!!
